The law requires that a tow vehicle’s mirrors allow the driver to see 4 metres wide of their caravan at a distance of 20 metres behind. Many drivers of larger vehicles still do not comply with this law and are driving “blind” without tow mirrors. If prosecuted a driver could receive 3 points on their licence and a fine of up to £1,000. At such a small cost, and with the safety of yourself and others on the road in mind, towing mirrors are always a worthwhile investment.
Tow mirrors come in various shapes, sizes and clamp types but for the most part are a universal fit.
