Find Bessacarr caravans
Bessacarr Caravans are named after the village in South Yorkshire close to Rotherham where they were founded in 1949. They started producing mobile homes initially and then in 1961 they started building their first tourers, the Royalette range. By 1969 they were producing both a low-spec budget caravan and a more luxurious range to meet a greater market.
Bessacarr soon developed a reputation for quality. Its sepele finished woodwork was praised by the industry and customers alike. In 1980 Bessacarr bought the Astral classic caravan brand and turned the Astral Cameo into their new twin axle tourer. Bessacarr soon became leaders in twin axle caravan models.
Bessacarr Caravans and Bessacarr Motorhomes were both bought by the Swift Group in 1995/6. Swift stopped building Bessacarrs in 2007.
Today the only Bessacarrs manufactured are exclusive models from Couplands Caravans (http://www.couplandscaravans.co.uk/) in Louth, Lincolnshire. These are manufactured under the name "Bessacarr by Swift". A new range of Bessacarr Cameo by Swift has been launched in 2013 with 6 models, ranging from the 2 berth 495 to the 4 berth, twin axle 645.
