Avondale Touring Caravans

Find Avondale caravans

Avondale Coachcraft was founded by Gerald and Eileen Ball in 1970 and they prided themselves in producing high spec caravans. Models such as the Avocet and Sandmartin became very popular. They always produced three ranges; a budget range, mid-range and high-spec range.

When Gerald Ball retired in 1992 the business was passed on to their son, Christopher Ball. Gerald remained as Chairman. However, demand for their caravans dwindled and Avondale Coachcraft went into administration in September 2008. Magnum Motorhomes (a self-build supplier) bought up their stock and are still providing spare parts.

Avondale Caravans used to be a very well respected manufacturer. In 2001 Avondale won three major Practical Caravan awards and also won an innovation accolate. Their 6 berth Dart 556-6 won the overall tourer and the best family tourer. The Avocet won the best 2 berth tourer for the second year in a row - this was the first time a caravan won the same award twice.
